SINCE 1976, Eighteenth Street Development Corporation (ESDC) has served the
Pilsen community on the Lower West Side of Chicago in Cook County, Illinois. A
largely Latino neighborhood, Pilsen is bounded by 16th Street to the north, Western
Avenue to the west and the South Branch of the Chicago River to the south and east.
Staff
IRENE DE LA CASA joined ESDC in 2004 as the Director of Housing Development.
Currently, she is responsible for overseeing the various housing initiatives and is also
responsible for special events for ESDC, including the annual golf outing and
reception. Ms. De La Casa is a member of the Housing Task Force Committee with
the Pilsen Planning Committee in addition to pursuing her degree in Public Relations
from Columbia College.
HECTOR SALDANA joined ESDC as Commercial Development Director in 2005.
He is responsible for area business promotions, small business consulting and
regulatory consultation in Pilsen. Mr. Saldaña is a member of the Imagable
Community Task Force overseen by the Pilsen Planning Committee. He has
degree in Applied Sciences and is currently working on obtaining his Bachelors
degree in Biology.
